Change Company Name
Change Company Name or Change Corporate Name or Change Name of the Corporation
- Your corporation may change its official name.
After the so called Dot Com Bust of the late 1990s many Internet companies
rushed to change their corporate names (by deleting the ".com" part
of the corporate name). You can change your corporate name by first having your
Board of Directors and Shareholders approve the name change (documented in the
corporate minutes), then amending the Articles of Incorporation and then file
the appropriate documents with the state of incorporation and any other state in
which it has made foreign corporation filing. Before taking this step,
consider the cost of new letterhead, business cards, marketing and sales
materials, etc. and the effect of lost name recognition within your industry. An
alternative to changing your corporate name might be to operate under a
fictitious business name for certain product lines or services.
